
From Australia’s under-16 ban to France’s 15-year age threshold and fresh EU scrutiny on TikTok, governments worldwide are pushing platforms to keep minors off social media. However, global cases show that age limits alone aren't a silver bullet. Beyond writing a number into law, the real test lies in enforcing strict age verification without compromising user privacy, and forcing platforms to redesign their core algorithms to make online spaces safer by default for children.
